The first address validation process that combines the traditional MSAG (Master Street Address Guide) with Postal and Geographic information, providing the most valid location determination and routing currently available.
SmartRoute 911's validation database (VDB) uses MSAG and Postal addressing data that are combined and reconciled to create a comprehensive validation system. Links are created between MSAG and Postal data to enable the system to accept and process queries at both the street level and community level. SmartRoute 911 Diagram.
SmartRoute 911's Emergency Service Zone Routing Database (ERDB) takes the address (Postal or MSAG) provided with the initiation of a 9-1-1 call and translates it into the Emergency Services Zone Number (ESN) needed to selectively route the call to the correct PSAP. This function is analogous to the Selective Routing Tables / Selective Routing Databases in 9-1-1 Selective Routers and ALI database systems. The major difference is that the ERDB has access to VDB data, including GIS information, to help it make the routing decision.
